Mine failed in the right mag at 300hrs (aaafter 20yrs of flying, I finally realize why those ground run-ups prior to takeoff are so important). Local shop tested the unit and said they could not localize the problem, and wanted $700 for a whole new mag, but an electronics friend of mine troubleshot the thing and found that it was indeed the capacitor. $65 later I was flying fine behind the same mag with a new capacitor.v Douglas W.
