LOL!! ;-)
<<When you say you have estimates of between 1.5k and 2.2k for clear coat,
what does this include?>>
I've been told that there is a certain window of opportunity in applying the
clear coat before sanding becomes necessary/required. The painter I have
selected does not want to take chances and will make sure that the paint is
perfect before applying the clear coat which means he will have to sand the
entire plane prior to the clear coat application. After the clear coat has
cured enough to buff, he will do that next. All in all, I expect to spend a
couple of weeks on improving the body work (especially the cowling) and then
spend $8K for the paint job, all the while keep my fingers crossed that it
comes out the way I expect. I do believe that the odds are in my favor
though, since I've seen this guy's work (kick-ass stuff) and after talking to
him a couple of times, gave me the impression that he is very meticulous and
detailed-oriented.
Wish me luck.
