The link above is a review of the splitter that can be used without fear
of frying the other radios in the stack(according to Bendix-King and

It should be noted that the splitter must stay ready to use but a
pigtail can not be left attached. I gather that it is the attachment of
the pigtail lead into the splitter that mechanically disconnects the TX
output from the Handheld from backfeeding the #1 Radio.
