Garmin could never stand that someone had developed a superior GPS/FMS to anything they had on the shelf. In a situation like that, the only thing to do is buy the company and kill the product. That leaves the 530 the best on the market--mediocre that it is.

This is from a friend of mine. Sad to report that Garmin has announced that they are discontinuing the GNS-480. We all knew in our hearts that this day was coming regardless of what reassurances the Garmin people were saying.
I still love my 480.
