David,
I know of two applications where Lancair
builders are using leading edge tape: on the leading edge of wings, horz and
vert stabilizers, and to cover the gap between the wing roots and the wing
fairing. When I first started flying I used a no-name leading edge tape for my
wing roots with very poor results. The tape would stick but it would blow out along
the gap. Even a double layer would eventually fail. 12 hours ago I went to 3M
brand leading edge tape. It’s much more expensive ($48 for a 1”
wide roll from ACS) but a single layer is showing no sign of failure. Go
with the good stuff.

What
kinds of leading edge tape is everyone using, or not using?
