I recently discovered that the dipstick on my IO-550N had nearly separated from the oil filler cap.  One side was broken loose and the other side had maybe 10% still attached.  I think I came close to losing the dipstick into the engine.  TCM is sending me a new dipstick, however now there's a superceding part number.  Evidently, I'm not the only one who's had this problem.  I know Art Jensen's Legacy had the same problem and he got a new dipstick.  He posted his problem on the LML too.

 

The old part number is 652171-8.  The new dipstick part number is 656616-1.  In a couple weeks I can post a photo of the new design.
