Thank you for sharing the information about the
defects in the seal that you found on your hydraulic cylinders. I plan to
inspect mine for the same problem.
As far as the "little pressure tank" it is an
accumulator. It's purpose is more like a hydraulic shock absorber.
It smoothes out any transient "bumps" in hydraulic pressure. Also, it
keeps the pump from cycling on and off as the pressure bleeds down normally or
changes with temperature. It should have come from the factory with the nitrogen
"pre-charge" already loaded. Generally, the accumulator should not require
any further service.
