We at Chino have chased nose wheel shimmy problems evidenced at low speed during braking on landing rollout on both LongEZs and Glasair IIIs. We brought in a Pro Stock brake designer after watching the rollouts from along the runway and discovering main gear walk. He suggested the cause might be rotor deformation due to heat or wear so we replaced same and had a remarkable improvement in all cases. It could be the tightly cowled main gear trap heat and cause the brake rotors to deform. paul ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour -------------------------------1188058789 Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

Have you looked at your brake=20 rotors?  I had a shimmy in what I thought was my nose wheel but found= it=20 to be the rotors deforming with braking, (heat).  Check them cold and= =20 they appeared perfect.  Final success was to go the high energy Cleve= land=20 brakes and replace the rotors.  No problems for 300=20 hours.
