References: In-Reply-To: Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Very happy with my Performance IO-550-EXP.  One Lightspeed electronic ignition, one mag, 10:1 pistons.  The engine is beautiful, a true work of art.

It also performs very well, accordinng to my Chelton, I easily have 1,200 NM range in my Legacy, fuel flows at altitudes of 10-15,000 feet are 10.8 - 12.2 GPH running LOP.  It is a very efficient engine.  After 200 hours, oil analysis shows very little wear.

Definitely worth the wait,

Hello everyone!

I am a new Lancair Legacy builder, my  kit number 251.  I am planning to build this kit within one year and I’m wanting to learn from every once experiences.  I have two questions What engine builder would you go with and why?

I am looking for an IO-550 that is dependable and has all the performance.

Performance engines?  Which I hear has a nice product but I hear this problems with delivery times.

Barrett engines? I hear is more conservative in their building and may be more dependable.

Other?

Thank you for your input.
