LANCAIR FLYIN - Medford, Oregon
The fly-in went well. Two IVP's arrived Friday afternoon and
were hangered for the night. Saturday morning the weather was optimum
with clear calm skies and a temperature of about 65 degrees for the first
arrivals at 8:20 AM. Planes arrived throughout the morning with the
last arrivals at about 11 AM. Pilots reported smooth cool
air. The afternoon temperature was about 88
degrees.
The fly-in included 15 planes with 6 models (235/320, 320, 360, Legacy, ES,
IVP) in attendance. There was several builders driving in. We
had a lot of locals taking interest in the rows of lancairs lined up. It
was an impressive site.
Long distance awards go to:
1. Jim Hergert (IVP) Sedona, Arizona, 687 NM
2. Don Karich (Legacy) Santa Ana, California 573
NM
3. Pat & Susan Brunner (IVP) Corona,
California 566 NM
Thanks much to those three for there interest in the MFR
Fly-in.
Everyone filled up with breakfast (pastries and fruit were
the most popular) with the AeroDiner providing lunch. Boxes of
Animal Crackers and Cracker Jacks were also popular items.
In the early afternoon pilots began departing to the north and
south with a IVP staying over for the weekend. The only change we
have planned for next year is a shorter vehicle/taxiway stop sign, as it didn't
clear a wingtip.
Thanks to all that attended. I look forward to the
next Lancair Fly-in wherever it may be. I have attached a few pics of the
day.
