I'm in the market for shock struts as well.  As we know, the options are Tim Ong's and John Spry's.  It seems no matter which one is used, the owner is extremely happy.  In fact, I don't know anyone that is dissatisfied with their choice.

However, I'm told that if Tim's deflate, you're stuck where you are until it's fixed.  If John's deflate, however, you still have the spring but no shock absorber and you can still get home -- at least, that's what I've been told.

Opinion is unanimous, however, that the rubber donuts suck. 

Me, I'm still building, and I can defer this expense until the day before I fly, but I might want to get in on an order for a pair of Spry struts if we're putting one together.
