Does anyone have a positive ID on the two Mustangs
that collided at Oshkosh? Aero-News has posted the identities
of the pilots; Gerard Beck, who was killed, and Casey Odegaard.
From what I could see on the web I think the lead airplane was a P-51D
called "Stang" and the second plane was a P-51A called "Precious Metal II", but
I'm not positive of that. I believe both of these aircraft were used in
the filming of "Thunder Over Reno".
I just read that Jim LeRoy was killed
today when he crashed while flying Bulldog at the Dayton
Airshow. This has not been a good weekend for the airshow
community. Let's hope it doesn't get any worse, and say a prayer for the
families of Gerard Beck and Jim LeRoy.
