>I'm wondering if you built the additional gear
warning circuit and how it worked out?
...all without a full blown audio panel<
Most audio panels reduce the audio signeal from the various equipment by
first passing the audio signals through a resistor network, mix the signals
and then re-amplify them. In the old days this was necessary because it
was bad to have one amplifier's full output driving into another. This is
not usually the case any more. Progress ----
I built my own audio selector panel which consists of just switches (no
amplifier or resistor network). It is less than 1/2 inch tall, has neat
push button switches that are back lit and was very inexpensive. I think
it looks better than the commercial audio panels available. If all the
buttons are pushed in I hear Nav1, Com1, DME, annunciator master warning
beeps, AOA and gear aural warning all at the same time. BTW, are you aware
that the AOA includes a gear warner already?
The audio panel is simply a commercially available tray with push button
switches installed which I had engraved. The switches are the minature
manual line from Catalog 30 Manual Switches Micro Switch (800) 537-6945.
If there is enough interest, I will write an article with pictures and part
numbers for Marve.
This was one of those really simple projects as opposed to the many really
time consuming ones that ran my construction time to over double the Neico
estimate.
