Hi Eric,
Regarding your high oil temperature, the first thing I'd do is unscrew the
oil temperature sensor from the engine and put it in a tin can half full of
water. Heat the bottom of the can with a propane torch or electric heat
gun until the water is boiling and then confirm that your temperature reading is
close to 212°F (if you're near sea level). That way, you know if
it's a gauge problem or a temperature problem.
