Just this weekend I was trying to determine a good place to mount a fire extinguisher in my ES. I still haven't figured out just where it would be best located. I thought that I could build a cavity into the right upholstery panel and mount it below the co-pilot's stick, just in front of the co-pilot's seat. Anyone have a better suggestion.
My criteria is:
1. Must be within pilot's easy reach,
2. Must be out of the reach of the feet (don't want it getting kicked)
3. Must not block ingress/egress.
4. Must not be mounted where it would become a missle in a forced landing
5. Must not interfere with the operation of switches, fuel selector, rudder pedals, etc.
So, let's hear everyone's suggestions on this.
BTW, I also have a fire detector under the cowl which is wired to a large LED on the panel. It is sensitive enough to spot the flame from a cigarette lighter across the hangar. Call me paranoid if you wish, but I think this would have provided some valuable information in this particular emergency situation.

We did a 100 hour inspection on our ES and found that that all of the nuts on the 4 contactors in the back of the airplane needed re-torquing. The firewall connections were OK. Another data point for the archives.
