I read an article today on Aero-News that said if you buy an airplane and fly it intoFlorida any time within the first 6 months of ownership the state can hit you with a "use tax" even if you don't live in Florida, don't own property in Florida, don't do business in Florida, and didn't buy the airplane in Florida. Two recent cases cited were the owner of a new Cirrus who received a $30,000 (yes, $30K) assessment and a Meridian owner who got a bill for over $100,000.
Anybody out there have any first-hand knowledge or experience with this?
