I wouldn't be too worried about leather cracking as
long as you protect it and if you aircraft is hangared it will last a long
time.
Leather is used on Porsche dashboards and they
spend a lot more time in the sun than these lancairs, if hangared. I had
black leather on my porsche dash in 1998 and i sold the car in 2003. Not one
crack or even sign of age.
My friends Lancair has a 2 tone cover. Black on top
and light grey on bottom to match his interior color. Looks sweet.
