This AD results from a report of a propeller blade separating from a propeller hub. We are issuing this AD to prevent failure of the propeller hub causing blade separation and subsequent loss of airplane control. 9/25/2006 1. Look at your propeller log book. 2. Check the hub Serial No. 3. If it ends in A or B, ignore the ECI warning. 4. If not, take off your shiny spinner and look for the serial number on the hub. If it ends in A or B, find out why your log book doesn't match the hub. Also, ignore the ECI warning with prejudice. 5. If #3 and #4 don't apply, get a copy of the AD and any referenced Hartzell SB. Act on it. 6. Even if you don't think you need it, apply Aeroshell #6 greasy grease as outlined in your Hartzell prop log/service handbook.
