I am using it and it works perfectly.  When flying an ILS I always fly
"dual" Freeflight on the Chelton and ILS VORLOC on the Nav side of the
Garmin 430 or GPS approach with the GARMIN. This way I am legal IFR by
using the GARMIN but can rely on the display of the Chelton.  The
Freeflight puts me exactly on the centerline and touchdown 1000" past
the threshold.

When I first started using the 1101 it was within a few weeks of the
Helicopter Convention and Expo.  Freeflight had a booth there and the
company president was there.  I had a long meeting with him regarding
this IFR and WAAS issue.  Direct 2 avionics had touted the 1101 to be
WAAS enabled and when coupled with the Chelton to allow for LPV
approaches. I had just come from the F.A.A. / WAAS program booth where I
had discussed the same issues.  At that time I learned the only approved
hardware was the GARMIN 480.  The President of Freeflight absolutely
agreed with the FAA regarding the GARMIN approval and also denied the
statements made by D2A regarding the 1101. He did sat that once
Freeflight got through the work load then associated with the Eclipse
Jet program they would offer a software solution and update for the
1101.  The Freeflight system was used in the Capstone program in Alaska
and received credibility there (I think this is correct info but it was
about 18 months ago).

Perhaps the solution is now a $2500 upgrade to the 1201.

I wouldn't have any problem purchasing the Freeflight again.  But with
the new Chelton system on the horizon I would probably wait.  I am sure
the Cheton system will use the GADAHRS (pinpoint) and the new Chelton
certification.

Subject: [LML] Re: Freeflight 1101 wiring

Is anyone out there currently flying with a FreeFlight 1101?   I have a
choice between using the Freeflight, or the GPS in my GADAHRS when it
arrives.

I have heard many differing opinions regarding the 1101.  I would like
to hear form anyone actually flying with one.

Thanks,
