However, on the ES the actuator rod is too short for the fail safe mechanism (if you install the servo in the standard place). I would have to mount the servo in another place that allows for a longer actuator rod or go without the fail safe mechanism. Still scratching my head about what to do. I really don't like the idea of disconnecting the fail safe mechanism. I've been flying for 3 years with manual trim and it's not that big of a deal, a little tap from time to time. I'm guessing that it would be most valuable in a GPS approach where you're stepping down, slowing down, dropping flaps and gear, etc. while flying both the lateral and vertical guidance with the autopilot, one less thing to do.
