Dom,

You can drive to Stowe, Vt (the skiing capital of the east) from New York in less than 6 hours. The distance is a little over 300 miles. If you want to stay on the east coast and see snow and are driving, this is where you want to go.

The skiing in Stowe can't compare to the Rockies but the winter drive through the Adirondack mountains is at least as beautiful.

You can find driving directions at mapquest.com and take a look and get hotel & motels from http://earth.google.com/.

So wondered if anyone out there in LML land h! as any suggestion to fill in ten days after Christmas sightseeing in the US without actually going as far as the West Coast (going to Canada and the West Coast next month).

Ciao.
