Hi Dom,
Well, now your finally hearing from Sedona, huh Jim Hergert hear. And all the folks are right it is beautiful here and Xmas time is no different. I regularly fly form AZ. to CA. about that time and never go IMC even if I have to wait a day or so. Not sure if your flying your own airplane? but the closest airlines are out of Phoenix, AZ. about 1:45 south driving. However, I have had lots of visitors and I'm getting very good at giving rides over the Grand Canyon, and around the Red Rocks or Meteor Crater. I also have a large hangar with a loaner Van and lots of Wine, (Cal, Australian, and yes Sedona's) food and laugh's for old retired folks.

Maybe this will entice you to come to Sedona?

You can’t beat the South West USA in the winter.  Sure you may have to wait a day or two for some weather but when it clears the landscape is nothing short of spectacular.  I am sure others will agree, especially those living in Sedona, Arizona (huh Jim Hergert?)  You could certainly use Las Vegas, or Phoenix as a base and then take day trips from their or just make your way around on one way legs.  (I am assuming you will be flying your own airplane?).

If you need help with an itinerary just ask.  Before long you may spend the entire winter here.

Good luck

VFR flying and sightseeing are likely to be better in the southwest,
rather than the northwest. Rain and overcast is probable anywhere north
of San Francisco near the coast. Like many, I would recommend Sedona.
There's some good mountain biking and trails all around town. There's
even a trail that goes around the airport, below the rim of the mesa.

The Mojave desert, including Death Valley (National Park) or
Anza-Borrego (California State Park) can also be spectacular
in the winter. Best wildflower viewing is a few months later
than your visit, around March. Both have decent airports.

also... Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, Painted Desert,
Monument Valley, Bryce Zion...Las Vegas if you're into that sort of thing.
