Hi Guys,

Preflight today found a broken part. Boo hoo for me.

Does anybody have a diagram or a part number for what looks to be a hydraulic
actuator, but is probably a damper for the nose gear over-center lock? The
shaft broke at the end where it bolts to the overcenter link.

Thanks in advance.

[Scotty... there are 2 cylinders in the LNC2 nose gear assembly... obviously the one with the hydraulic lines to it is the actuator, the other (thinner of the 2) is the gas spring that helps push the nose gear out and lock the o/c link when you open the dump valve.  If the part that's broken is on the former you'd probably be best served contacting Kit Components and getting it from them.  I'm sure it's a standard replacement part they have on the shelf.  If it's the gas spring, though, there have been many discussions about them here on the LML and most folks purchase the replacement cylinder and ends from McMaster Carr.  Here's a message Bob Jude posted a coon's age ago regarding that very thing....

Larry, If you want a reliable, long lasting gas strut, do not buy it from
Kit Components (unless they have recently changed their supplier). Get it
from McMaster-Carr. Part number 9416K155 ($9.90) with end pieces 9416K84
($1.25 each). You can order on-line.

I hope this helps.    <Marv>             ]
