It's the one Lancair recommends and sells at Aerocraft Parts.

Yes, the Carbon is conductive. It did not occur how much, until I pulled my extension cord over the edge of the rear window and the Carbon edge slid in-between the plug and the cord socket and shorted the two prongs, causing a shower of sparks and a tripped breaker.

I should check the carbon to see just how conductive it is compared to the ground plane paint.

APPLICATION DETAILS

Mixing/Dilution
SP-008A is a ready-for-use material but an addition of up to 8 ounces of water can be added if needed. Thoroughly mix SP-008A on a paint shaker or electric stirrer before use. Use volume measurement for viscosity adjustment.

Spray Application
SP-008A is best applied by spray techniques using either a conventional system, or for higher efficiency, high volume low pressure (HVLP). Recirculation of the paint from pot through the gun and back via a pump delivery system may be done for greater uniformity. Small prototype runs can be sprayed with well-mixed product using suction cup spray equipment. All metals coming in contact with SP-008A should be 304 or 316 stainless steel to prevent product/metal interaction.

SP-008A should have a nominal dry film thickness of 1.5-2.0 mils (37.5-51.0 μm), to obtain good shielding performance. A thinner coat may be acceptable depending on the shielding requirements of the device being protected. To obtain maximum adhesion and conductivity, dry spraying of the device should be avoided.

Drying
The coated device can be air dried for 10 minutes, and then force dried for 30 minutes at 160°F (71°C). If force drying is not a choice, the coating or coated part can be air dried for 16 hours. Note: Good air movement and humidity control is necessary for proper drying of water-based coatings.

Quality Control
Measure resistance after coating is cured. Digital ohmmeter measurements using industry standard test probes at constant spacing and pressure avoids confusion and is highly recommended.
