Ron,
I hope I don't screw up, too. That's why I do not screw around in
airplanes. This guy is very lucky he did not kill himself and his passengers.
His actions were grossly negligent. I sincerely hope the FAA takes action
against his pilot certificates.
The whole country got to go through a similar circus show this summer
when Corey Lidle was killed in a plane crash in New York when he and his flight
instructor flew a perfectly good (Cirrus) airplane into the side of a building.
In case you were asleep for about a month or off this planet at the time, that
accident now limits your ability to fly around Manhattan.
If this pilot had killed an Olympic gold medalist we would have heard much
more than we have thus far. Every dumb pilot trick causes the rest of us pilots
to be scrutinized by non pilots, to be restricted by more government regulation,
to be charged more for insurance premiums, etc. This accident was dumb, plain
and simple.
I am not "mr. perfect" but I sure know stupid when I see it.
