Anything that requires I wait an hour once I get to the airport isn't going to cut it. If I am showing up for an early flight, the last thing I want to do is sit in the car for an hour while I run some contraption. I used the thermocube block in the past - it worked great when I was in a hangar, and recently I have been known to pull my plane up to the FBO the night before a flight to plug in an extension cord. The management didn't like that too much. I'm now envisioning a 30 lb battery, hooked to a cord and a 12volt heat strip. I can put it on a timer to start 3 hours before I plan to leave. I'm not an electrical expert - but I think that will work. Another option is: http://www.kodiakoutback.com/detail.aspx?ID=1210&utm_source=nxtg&utm_medium= ppc&utm_campaign=cmp1 This is an "all-in-one" very portable heat unit.
