While I appreciate the position that both Lancair and
Chelton have taken regarding the troubles with Direct2, I have lost some
confidence that Chelton will continue to support the experimental market over
the longer term. I’m not saying that they won’t, but recent
events have reawakened my previously dormant suspicious mind. While
pondering this, I read a glowing review of the Garmin G600, I think it was in
either Flying or Kitplanes.
Based on what I read, I think the Garmin is supposed to be
available for less than $30,000. You may need a 430 or 530 which is
probably not included in the price, but I was already planning on a 530 even
with the Chelton.
This makes me wonder whether anyone knows much about the
G600 (http://www.garmin.com/products/g600/).
Is it competitive with the Chelton Sport? Is anyone else
considering the Garmin, or at least holding off on their EFIS decision till
they learn more about it?
