Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful. I was able to blame my inability to calibrate the AOA on my own poor piloting skills (to which Bill and Sue can probably attest after witnessing my landing at Dogwood!), however no such excuse existed after Bill piloted the plane for our in-flight maneuvers. It gives "Barking Betty" non-stop during cruise Now I'm back to the drawing board. Matt [Hi Matt... I'm assuming that the display was showing red chevrons while Barking Betty was yelling at you. We there any attitude that caused the display to show changes in the AOA, or was it locked in a high-AOA or stalled position (ie, entire display lit up)? Did you physically verify the integrity of all the tubing hookups to the AOA computer? As we discussed back when you first posted your request, most of the problems Jim and I encountered in trying to get to the bottom of calibration difficulties related to leaks or improper connections between the ports and the computer. The complete instructions for verifying that the tubing runs are correct and working properly are included on the calibration checklist. Failure to complete that check can render the rest of the calibration process moot. If, however, you did that part and then made sure that the hangar calibration was done in a wind-free environment but still couldn't get a valid calibration, there is certainly a possibility that something is amiss with the computer. Give Rob Hickman a call at Advanced Flight Systems, I'm sure he can help you the rest of the way to the bottom of your problem. ]
