Who is the "Safety Tsar" for Lancair?
It seems to me that Joe/Tim/someone officially at Lancair should be named or
designated as Safety Tsar. Their responsibility would be to thoroughly
examine every single Lancair incident, in excruciating detail, and relay to
the rest of us how NOT to become a statistic.
Face it. The Lancairs are some of the most wonderfully high performance
aircraft of all time - which is why I'm personally racing to finish my IVP.
I want the performance. I also want to intellectually be aware of the
pitfalls and limitations of having/flying/performing a super high
performance aircraft. I would prefer to fly to old age, and die when there
is no led left in my pencil. I would prefer not to join the ranks of the
uninformed/untrained/unacknowledged who have crashed their birds for lack of
"how not to crash" information.
Gentlemen -- the Lancair is no Piper Cub. You don't fly it around Utah Lake
looking for carp. It is more like an SR-71: You take off and climb high
and fly fast and get where you are going. Marvelously. Quickly. Without
having to land at unmanned airports on the Olympic Peninsula so that your
wife can take a potty break! (Ask me about taxiing through grass to the
port-a-let).
JoeB -- are you listening here?
I believe in you and Lancair. I support you. I love you! I challenge you
to declare an individual as "Safety Tsar" for all Lancair aircraft. It is
good for you and good for us. It is a total win win. You make bucks and we
impress friends and relatives and gorgeous women and STAY ALIVE TO DO IT
AGAIN.
Cheers.
