<< Why would they want to want to carry a product (Pinpoint) and agree to keeping its manufacturer anonymous?>>

For me, I see it this way:

Chelton or D2 need AHARS, they go to Crossbow and also Aerospace Company X.  For what ever reason they get the AHARS from Crossbow.

Aerospace company X, may be as a backup or may be a second bidder, what ever.

Crossbow has some glitches that they don't catch before the product goes out the door. Major problem for the Chelton system and D2.

Chelton and or D2 goes back to Aerospace Company X and Aerospace Company X forms Company Y – Pinpoint to manufacture and sell the AHARS.

Obviously to keep the AHARS Company Y – Pinpoint separate from Aerospace Company X.

I think the reason Aerospace Company X wants to remain separate from Company Y - Pinpoint is because they are a large aerospace company that maintains a specific image, and they spend a lot of money to maintain that image and don't want to corrupt that image with another market. In this case the Experimental market.

Lets fact it any yahoo can put a manufactures product in their plane and do something stupid that could land the manufacturer in court or the media with bad press.

Just my opinion.
