I experienced a catastrophic failure of the Chelton Sport/Crossbox 425 coupling, fortunately in VFR weather. This event was I believe a couple years after the combination was introduced to the market as tested and approved. I fully understand that these complex systems are trial and error (sorry about the lives at risk) but how can we accept that the system which has been tweaked by that same staff at Crossbox is this time truly ready for prime time? Crossbow has given us reasons to believe them now. It would be interesting if Crossbow would also disclose to us where they went wrong the first time.
Instead I chose to change horses in mid-stream and go with the Pinpoint GADAHRS. D2A and Pinpoint tested it before I got it and I as an early adopter was probably considered a beta site. It passed our flight testing with, well, flying colors. The questionnaire and phone conversations I exchanged with D2A just weeks ago led me to believe that my experience was typical. Perhaps the re-designed 425 will work as well. I certainly hope so. We need choices
