An ES owner at my airport ended up with an extra door and had the opportunity to practice with an escape hammer, one of those little orange ones they sell.  Not even close!

 

He ended up buying a ball pein hammer and grinding a point on the rounded end, and it did the job.  It's now mounted under his seat.
