Thanks, Rob.  Looks like next on the list is to get an instruction manual, which I never received.  Anyway, I tried it this morning and the only path available was "menu, dcltr" and then there were the options of bank scl., basic, mini map, skyway, terrain and HSI.  Basic and HSI were not checked, the others were.  No "glide" to be found.  In the limits page the glide ratio is still set (I changed mine from 14 to 12 as I thought 14 was too optimistic).  Looks like I need to do some more research.
