I haven't changed the battery, but it's stated by the VMS documentation
that it should last 10 years !
Have you got a procedure to check if the battery is still good ?
I have the funny reading only on the fuel tank indicator but not on the
VMS1000 or the E100

Did you change the battery in the VM1000 base unit? It has to be changed
about every 3-5 years. (Mine lasted 7 until it went out--gave funny
readings
on the display)
