There have been some questions about tires and batteries recently.
Specifically regarding tires, the Cheng Shin tire for the 320.
I have been using that tire from day one on my 320 (December, 1994) and
have been very satisfied with its performance. I put on new tires in
January this year after two and one half years and about 235 flight hours.
The only problems I have had were brought on by by underinflation,
causing flexing and a pin-hole leak in the tube side wall. I keep tire
pressure at 48 psi (+/-) and have had no further problems.
I replaced my battery last month (November) after seven years on the old
one, a Concorde RG-35A. In the colder weather it was starting to struggle
a bit cranking the engine and I didn't want to get stuck somewhere. The
new battery is a Concorde RG-35 AXC and it really spins over the engine on
start. During long periods of sitting in the hangar I keep a trickle
charger on the battery. The leads are attached to posts I installed in the
right hand wheel well cockpit closeout rib. That battery tending has
significantly increased battery life.
Regarding tire life, I should note that I do not do touch and go landings,
I do no training with my airplane. I use the airplane to go places only,
and it do go places in a hurry. I don't jump on the brakes after landing
either, using aerodynamic braking and letting it rollout.
