Rick,
Registration # N146CA is the number I saw
on that ES. I was told the project has been in the works for 7 or 8 years.

FYI, The FAA registry (my pretty inclusive
extract), shows two ES’s in TN:
N146CA (sn# 023) David Heady, with
an A/W date of Oct 2005 (probably not him if it was a first flight)
N 823MS (sn# 059) Ed Silvanic, which was
1st registered in 2002, but is not showing a A/W date of a week ago (perhaps a
very new A/W)?

Subject: [LML] New Born ES
I was visiting the Morristown, TN
today to show an interested party (someone who is thinking of building a
Legacy) my Legacy. When I got there I was told an ES was preparing to make its
maiden flight. It was powered by a Corvette (I think) engine.
The takeoff looked normal, until about
2/3s the way down the 5700” runway. At that point there was fluid coming
off the wings (I thought of fuel). The plane returned and landed, rolling to
the last exit. It was shut down, without taxiing back.
I didn’t stay, so I don’t know
what the problem was.
