That reminds me of a similar incident which happened when I was training at Flighty Safety in 1991. A cherokee collected a buzzard with the right wing. It made a fair impression on the leading edge but the aircraft landed safely.

Turkey buzzards, seems to be Florida's answer to Kangaroos-fortunately the only flying 'Roos we have in Australia operate mostly in the flight levels (the national carrier Qantas). Wouldn't want to be collected by those guys thats for sure..!!

This Piper Arrow landed after hitting a turkey vulture in Florida. There were two Pilots ferrying it someplace when they whacked the bird. They said it flew fine this way - a little mushy on the landing. Took the guys hair off, too..
