It could be that the AP disconnected when the trim was to far off....however, in
both cases I had been in level cruise for sometime without significant
turbulence. So who knows. Neither of those situations was "heart pounding."
The airplane stayed level and began to drift off heading. The un-commanded up
deal, on the other hand, quickly got my attention (and my wifes).
