On average (if there is such a thing), how many man hours does it take to complete the construction of a Lancair IV-P?

It depends on how nice you want the plane to be.  My opinion is a pro builder is 2500 to 3000 hours.  A first time builder is 3500 to 4000 hours.  This is primer and flyable with no interior and final paint.  You pay to have the panel and wiring harnesses done.

getting close to 3000 hrs
