In my humble opinion, there's no reason why the stormscope cannot be made to function normally in a carbon fiber or E glass Lancair. Won't know for sure until my flies...
And by the way, it will interface seemlessly with the Garmin MX20 without any need for heading stabilization!
My WX500 antenna is mounted externally in the floor forward of the baggage bulkhead with a large copper foil ground plane attached to the mounting bracket. I don't seem to have a picture of the actual ground plane but it is quite similar to the bottom TCAD 9900B ground plane under the pilot seat as shown below.
