I was out on the race course early one morning and took these pictures of
one of the pylons. I believe Rick is correct in his statements that there
are several judges and that they look up through the pylons for cuts. In
my mind four or six eyeballs looking through a four foot barrel are more
credible than a GPS traveling at 350+ mph when it comes to determining
pylon cuts.
