I put the oil cooler door in my first ES,
then took it off after flying a few hours. Subsequently, I've built
another ES and two Legacy's one still in progress), and not bothered with the
oil cooler doors on any of them. The air flow to the oil cooler on the
IO550 is marginal anyway with the oil cooler stuck down behind the last
cylinder, so the oil cooler door is a useless impediment. I've flown in
OAT's down as low as maybe -10C to -15C, and still had toasty warm oil
temps. Maybe in Minnesota?
If anyone needs one, I've got a box of
leftover parts someplace . . .
