Scotty G wrote in response to a question from another lister:  "Cutting a pylon at Reno does not disqualify a racer, there is just a time penalty. Rod placed second in the race due to the cut."

This misses the point of both questions.  The lister questioned why it took an hour to call in the cut and also noted that the Chelton data showed that he didn't cut the pylon.  I had heard the same thing about the ground track from Direct To and about the delay in calling in the cut from several people who were there.  Both questions are legitimate and are not answered by pointing out that Rod placed "second" with a penalty when he finished the race way ahead.

RAR has always been a political organization and I am quite sure that they will stonewall the matter.  That said, it is a damn shame when races are fixed, whether presidential or Reno.  A lot of fans who pay a lot to come to Reno each year deserve better.
