Hamid,

This was bait and switch "Fraud" nothing less. This is the enemy of the "Free Market".  It is the government's proper role to prosecute fraud.  What part of "I called a week before to say that I was coming in FOR THE DERBY did you not understand?  I intended to go to Bowman Field but was asked to come to SDF by the nice lady instead!

I've flown small airplanes into Oshkosh for 20 years, as well as LAL, Newark, O'Hare, Atlanta, JFK, Orlando, etc. and always had very good experiences.  There is no excuse for this behavior as most of the posters to this list agree.

The crew car was promised for that weekend and reserved under our tail number at exactly the time we arrived.  Part of the problem I later found out was that they just hired a new counter person who gave me bad information over the phone.  A paid shuttle at least could have easily been arranged for those who wanted to make the 1 mile trip to Churchill Downs. The track was closer than the length of the runway!

Your point about Oshkosh is a shining example of logical "false equivalency".  The numbers at Oshkosh dwarf the lousy 180 airplanes at a much larger airport SDF and city the size of Louisville.  At no time did anyone look that busy.  All the Jets arranged their own ground transportation and we were there during peak hours.

Are you really defending $150 for 3 seconds of air from 5 guys standing around doing nothing!?

Incidentally, the tire tube is sitting on my desk with about 10 psi of pressure with an imperceptible pin hole and no chafing whatsoever!  Go fugure!

I'd take a picture but the resolution would not be high enough!

Regards,

Stu

Oh Great, you are telling the State Representative of the Libertarian Party about Supply and Demand...:)
Just like there are tax and spend Republicans and hawkish Democrats, we now know an anti-free market Libertarian!

The call a week before extolling the five dollar tie down price, failing to mention the $6.25 gas, and $500 shop entrance fee,
Did you ask about the fuel prices or did you ASSume that the fuel would be cheap?  Also, did you ask about shop rates and maintenance policies?  When a badly posed question gets an incomplete answer, the fault lies with the person asking the question.

lack of Crew Car, no shuttle, no cabs, $271 car rental, and no tie downs!
You are being extremely unreasonable to expect to get a crew car on what is most probably their busiest weekend of the year.  Same goes for cabs.  Cabs are not obliged to go to the airport or any other place for that matter.  If the cabbies are making more money in another part of town due to the Derby, you are basically SOL.  You should count yourself lucky that you were able to get a rental car at any price without a prior reservation.  Have you tried getting a rental car or a hotel at the last minute at Airventure?

You are free to publicize your experiences with any business in any appropriate forum, this certainly being one of them.   Just keep in mind that people judge you as well as the business you are writing about. Applying a bit of critical analysis to what you have written leaves one wondering about the rest of the story.

Regards,

Hamid
