We did the same thing. No interference at all. Have not flown it yet.

The Whelan system I bought has shields on all the wires, but no provision
for connecting them to anything. I'm going to connect them to the box itself
at one of the screws that holds the lid. They will NOT be connected to
anything at the "outer" ends.
