  It is truly the "throat area" / "radius from spindle center line to throat

   So, good question on the unitless issue  :-?    Simple unit cancellation.
  and it doesn't work.
  
  I did a mental experiment to confirm, and units DO matter.
  
   I assume Garrett/Kelly/tcm etc are using inches. (will require some
  follow-up).
