If things are falling to sh*t, put the little airplane on the horizon and level the wings.  Things should calm down quickly and then you can sort things out.  This addresses the pitot-static system failure.
 
If you have a gyro or a vacuum failure, then presumably the little airplane *is* on the horizon and things are still going to sh*t.  If the little airplane is on the horizon and the wings are reportedly level and the turn needle is pegged, you'd better believe the turn needle and do one of those partial panel exercises that you probably haven't done since you got your rating.   (yeah, like the NTSB data says this really works...)
 
Of course, you only had 10% of the time you spent reading this to do all that...
