Just in case some have forgotten (or never knew) where all this came from,
here's a front cover pic from the April 1985 EAA Sport Aviation magazine I
came across while cleaning up (!) my shop.
The airplane on the cover was called the "Lancer 200" (it had a Continental
O-200), and the pilot flying is Lance (the name change of the airplane to
Lancair is a whole 'nother story).
This cover picture was what inspired me to immediately high-tail it down to
his shop - which at the time was in the greater LA area near 190th and
Normandie in Gardena - to order my kit (this was long before Lance moved to
Santa Paula). A bunch of others must have had the same idea as, by the time
I got my order in, I got #52.
When I walked into Lance's shop, he and Don Goetz were hard at work on the
#1, 235 kit prototype (Lance was underneath, banging on something). In those
days, Lancair consisted of Lance, Linda and Don.
Enjoy!
