I'm in the middle of fitting and getting ready to bond in the center
console. But I have a couple of questions.
A) the below two pictures are of the indicator portion of my fuel selector.
The first one shows the bottom of the "top indicator" portion and you can
see the gray X piece with little mounting holes. Now if you look at the
second picture, you'll see the "black engraved" top and it's holes.
Question is, do you sandwich the center console and it's opening between
those two parts (one from inside and under the center console well, and one
from the top?, or do you just mount both pieces from the top of the console?
The reason I ask, is that the gray X part, will cause the engraved part to
"protrude" (rise up) above the level of the inside of the well in the
console if both are mounted together from the top. If the well is
sandwiched, then there is no gap. I could also probably do a "release" with
the "both on top" mount approach and bring the well up to the black engraved
portion. But that seems like a lot of work to make this look right. What
did other do?

B) with my selector bolted to it's mount below the console, the well that
the indicator goes in is just slightly rearward from centered (the indicator
sets up to front edge of the well, and is not completely "centered" in the
well). Lancair no longer provides the extension that pivots, it's now a
straight extension with no provision for moving fore or aft, or left or
right. Made me wonder, I have my fuse down on some dolly's positioned
directly below the front spar and the rear spar and below the load pads (on
the left and right). The tail is supported by the rear rotisserie saddle.
But the firewall is not in the rotisserie. Could I have a "bow" in the
fuselage because of this? Have others installed the center and rear
consoles (think the rear is called a tunnel) while on the rotisserie? If so
then I should be ok and I'll see about getting the pivot type extension, or
finesse the rigid one a little. It's pretty close, maybe 1/4" or so out of
being where it should be.
