HI

I removed my one GM13 tonight. Its a 93 model fast build. I was impressed
with the resistance I had to overcome using a wood chisel and hammer to
remove the glass. However it seemed that they used micro to join the
phenolic block to the spar as this was VERY easy to break loose once the
glass was off.

Now I need to figure out how many ply's to use to attach the new piece, as I
destroyed the glass completely by removing it.

[Pine... in reading through the SB there is no mention of removing the
GM13 attach block _unless_ it has been damaged due to side loads applied
during landing.  If the GM13 and its attaching BIDs are all intact, such
as would be found on an unfinished project, all that should need to be
done is to add the 1/4" X 4" phenolic bracket to insure that the GM13 is
stabilized between the spar caps.  I don't think the SB intended for
builders to remove the GM13 and then re-install it on aircraft which are
not yet flying.  Since you've removed one of them already, the SB calls
for a 6-BID lamination to attach it to the lower spar cap.
